Entry is now open for the 2017 Winking Sheep Sportive

The 2017 Winking Sheep

The North Pennines  presents a challenging terrain for any cyclist because of all the sharp climbs and descents. Any rider capable of meeting the challenge of a category 4 Sportive can now enter the British Cycling registered 2017 Winking Sheep Cycle Sportive. Entry for riders is now available at http://britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/157396/The-Winking-Sheep-Sportive.

Three routes are offered this year by the organisers.

  • The Lamb is a 55 Mile route
  • The Shearling is a new 75 mile route
  • The Winking Sheep is the 90 mile route

The Shearling, which is new for this year, is aimed at riders not yet ready for the full 90 mile Winking Sheep while requiring more challenge than the 55 mile Lamb.

Riders can enter for a very reasonable £25. The routes are open road and marshalled with three refreshment stations therefore whatever the weather the sportive will be a great event. The Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team will receive a donation of any surplus.

However good a rider you are except the challenge and book now and bring your friends.
